This project is focused on strengthening the inclusion of persons with disabilities (PwDs) across the Western Balkans. Led by the German organization Arbeiter Samariter Bund Deutschland e.V. and funded by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Project Goal:
People with disabilities and organizations of persons with disabilities in the Western Balkans strengthen their position through regional dialogue and advocacy, the implementation of best practices, and jointly developed community support for people with disabilities.
Expected Project Outcome:
People with disabilities and organizations of persons with disabilities in the Western Balkans use regional forums for dialogue, networking, and tools created within the project to express their needs at regional, national, and local levels, exchange best practices in terms of public-private-civil partnerships, and lay the foundation for (re)structuring social investment funds to support the inclusion of people with disabilities.
Measures to Support People with Disabilities in the Western Balkans:
- Infrastructure and services at the local level for at least 1,500 people with disabilities (at least 50% women) are improved through 30 local inclusion projects.
- At least 300 people with disabilities enhance their skills and employment potential through tailored and certified vocational training programs or other work integration programs.
- At least 600 people with disabilities receive psychosocial and/or career counseling through inclusive workshops.
- Local strategic plans related to persons with disabilities and/or local inclusion plans for people with disabilities are developed or revised for 15 municipalities in the Western Balkans region.
