LIR CD is actively working on the development of Local Inclusion Plans in three local self-government units: Travnik, Bosanska Krupa and Foča.

These plans represent an important step toward creating more inclusive communities in which the needs of persons with disabilities are recognised and taken into account in planning processes and decision-making.

In each of the three municipalities, working groups have been established to develop the Local Inclusion Plans. The working groups consist of representatives of institutions, civil society organisations and persons with disabilities themselves, ensuring broad participation and the exchange of diverse perspectives.

During the meetings held so far, members of the working groups have identified key challenges they face in their daily work, while also providing numerous proposals for improving local policies, services and support mechanisms. The discussions focused on developing concrete and sustainable solutions that will contribute to better accessibility, employment opportunities and the social inclusion of persons with disabilities.

The process of developing the Local Inclusion Plans serves as an example of good practice in cooperation between institutions, local authorities and the civil sector, aimed at building communities with equal opportunities for all citizens.

The EMPOWERED project runs from 2024 to 2027, implemented by Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Deutschland e.V. (ASB) and funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The total project value is EUR 3.33 million.

The project is being implemented in 15 municipalities across the region, with three included in Bosnia and Herzegovina: Bosanska Krupa, Foča and Travnik. Its goal is to promote employment and economic empowerment of persons with disabilities, develop inclusive policies and strengthen regional cooperation.
